As the end of the year approaches, many of us are feeling the excitement and anticipation of holiday celebrations and time spent with loved ones. It’s a time to reflect on the past year and all that we’ve accomplished, and to look forward to the possibilities of the coming year.
Thinking back on the year there were both highlights to celebrate and challenges to overcome. While challenges can be daunting and intimidating, they also present opportunities for growth and development. By confronting and overcoming challenges, we can learn new skills, build new relationships and strengthen communities.
Here are some of the highlights – positive and negative – that iDetic experienced in 2022.
Referral Program
In February, iDetic launched its referral program, enabling you to put some cash in your pocket through projects and new installations.
Whether you require hardware for a project, need advice from our team of experts, or even have a lead but can’t assist them – we can help you bring these projects to life while rewarding you in the process.
Global Chip Shortage
Multiple factors have impacted the manufacturing and distribution of semiconductor chips, and we are still seeing the impact of this.
Average lead times for chips continue to remain high at around 27 weeks, and predictions estimate that this will continue well into 2023. On the bright side, global semiconductor supply chain backlogs are gradually diminishing, with experts estimating that the global shortage will largely be a thing of the past by the end of 2023.
Until then, be sure to plan any projects well in advance to mitigate any delays caused by this shortage.
Africa’s first Barco Freya+ Projector installation
In April, iDetic was fortunate enough to install Africa’s first Barco Freya+ projector, a DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) compliant projector and their flagship residential projector.
When it comes to performance and experience – we haven’t seen anything come close to this projector.
Barco has always pushed the boundaries when it comes to Home theatre and Entertainment products. In 2022 Barco launched both the Hodr and Njord luxury residential projectors – both 3-Chip DLP Projectors available in 16:9 and CinemaScope.
Visiting London
In March we sent Charl Lotter to London to experience and learn from their Audio/Video experiences and he brought back more than just thoughts on their showrooms.
While there, Charl fell in love with Wisdom Audio and gained inspiration and motivation for proper South African showrooms – both leading to a brand new Home Theatre experience being installed in Cape Town featuring Wisdom Point Source Speakers, Trinnov Amplification & Epson Laser Projection.
The Home Theater is currently under construction, but watch this space for the reveal in a future post!
Certifications
We believe strongly in continuous upskilling and training to keep up with advances and technology, and to ensure we always deliver the best possible experiences in Smart Homes and Home Technology Solutions.
Certifications and training not only feed into your peace-of-mind, but also directly affect the final product that we deliver. iDetic applies a scientific approach to our installations to ensure that your investment is a smart one.
Keeping in line with the above in 2022, we have become fully certified in both Lutron and Control4.
Happy New Year!
Whether it’s spending time with family and friends, volunteering in your community, or simply reaching out to check in with loved ones, the end of the year is a great time to come together and celebrate all that we have to be grateful for.
So as the end of the year approaches, take some time to wind down, recharge, and prepare for the festive season ahead. Happy holidays!
Thanks to all our customers and partners for sharing the ups and downs with us this year. See you all in 2023!
iDetic closes on 15 December 2022, and reopens on 16 January 2023.
