With the dust settled on the CEDIA 2022 convention in Dallas, we thought we’d share some of the highlights and interesting developments that caught our eye this year.
Epsons EpiqVision Ultra LS800 ultra short throw laser projector featured as part of an influx of ultra short throw projectors this year.
Like it’s predecessor (the Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS500), the LS800 is a 3LCD single-laser+phosphor projector with 4,000 ANSI lumens of equal color and white brightness. With 3 1080p imagers and Epson’s 4K PRO-UHD detail enhancement, it achieves a great on-screen resolution that is difficult to distinguish from true 4K UHD.
The LS800 features a new 0.16:1 lens, giving it the shortest throw distance for a given screen size of any laser projector on the market.
Kaleidescape, makers of the ultimate movie player, featured their new Terra movie servers. The product is offered in a 88TB, 48TB or a compact 6TB server.
The server can handle up to 800Mbps downloads, an increased ability to download and play back content at the same time and distributes up to 10 simultaneous playback streams in 4K HDR when connected to Kaleidescape’s Strato C players.
Marantz turned heads with their new CINEMA series AVR’s that took center stage at the expo. The series features four new AV receivers – the CINEMA 40, 50, 60 and 70s model, as well as the flagship AV 10 pre/pro and AMP 10 amplifier. The new series also brings DIRAC (one of the best room correction solutions) as an optional upgrade to their platform for the first time.
Brief information on the new hardware is listed below:
AV 10 and AMP 10: Built on the Marantz proprietary HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) technology, the AV 10 and AMP 10 work together to create a reference-level entertainment system with the 16-channels of amplification from the AMP 10 complementing the discrete circuitry and seven HDMI inputs of the 15.4 channel AV 10 processor.
CINEMA 40: 11.4 channel AV receiver, with nine channels of 125-watts per channel amplification.
CINEMA 50: 11.4 channel AVR, with nine channels of 110-watts per channel amplification.
CINEMA 60: 7.2 channel AVR that provides 100-watts per channel of amplification. According to Marantz, the 8K AVR is suited for dedicated home theater applications and multipurpose media rooms of any size.
CINEMA 70s: Slim 7.2 channel AVR with 50-watts per channel of amplification. Marantz adds the CINEMA 70 8K AVR is suited for smaller living spaces, compact media consoles or crowded AV racks.
Wisdom Audio showed off their incredible line source center speaker for LED Walls. The speaker array is fully modular, allowing them to scale to any size LED wall screen. They were featured in a demo room with Wisdom’s L75 model speakers used as 4 side-channels and 2 rear speakers.
Using proprietary wavefront curvature technic to shift the sonic image to the center of the array, they ensure that the horizontal localization remains at the center of the screen for any listener seated off-center from the screen.
Wisdom’s STS Free-Standing RTL (Regenerative Transmission Line) Subwoofers also featured in the room – highly efficient dual 15-inch woofers with 101dB sensitivity and an astonishing SPL capability of 130dB at 20 Hz.
Wisdom Audio also recently announcened their new SA-8 and SA-8 DSP multichannel power amplifiers.
Designed and built in the United States, the SA-8 and SA-8 DSP are compact 2RU amplifiers that deliver eight channels of high-performance amplification at 200W RMS per channel into eight ohms and 400W per channel into four ohms, all channel-driven. Additionally, the channels can be bridged for even higher performance, delivering up to 600W into a four-ohm load.
